FAQs

Candle Safety

A lit candle should always be placed on a stable, heat resistant surface. Never leave a lit candle unattended and keep out of reach of children and pets.

Why is the first burn so important?

The first time you burn your candle a full melt pool needs to be achieved.
This is where the wax is melted all the way across to either side of the jar, this can take up to 4 hours. If you don’t achieve a full melt pool the candle can form a tunnel leaving unmelted wax around the edge of the jar.

Why should I not burn my candle for more than 4 hours?

If you burn your candle for longer than 4 hours the wick can become extended and potentially lean on to the jar. If this happens the glass can become extremely hot and could pose a fire risk.

Why you should not burn your candle all the way to the bottom?

You should leave around 10mm of wax in the bottom of the jar and not burn right to the bottom. This is due to the heat of the flame not being absorbed by enough wax and can cause the glass to become very hot and potentially crack.

When should I trim the wick?

The wick should be kept around 7mm in length. If you've burnt your candle for more than 2 hours it will likely need trimming. By leaving the wick longer you may cause soot to build on the jar walls. This can be wiped off with paper towel.
